Bishop, 79, of Springfield died Friday, July 13, 2001 in Eaglewood Care Center. She was born Aug. 6, 1921 in Champaign County, Ohio, the daughter of Roy and Elsie (Dibert) Bishop. She was a graduate of Westerville High School and attended Bliss Business College. She began working at the Ohio Funeral Director's Association in 1953 and served as their executive director from 1970 to 1984. In 1977, she became the first female president of the Ohio Trade Association Executives. Zelma was a registered parliamentarian for the National Funeral Directors Convention and Zonta International. She was past chairman of the Council of Funeral Directors Executives, a member of the Board of Directors of the Columbus Convention Bureau, past president of the Columbus Unit of National Association of Parliamentarians and a member of Central Christian Church. Zelma enjoyed golfing, volunteering and traveling. Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Betty Bishop of Urbana and Charlotte Bishop of Indiana; one brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Leah Bishop of Springfield; four nieces, Sue (Peter) Armstrong of Westerville, Nancy (John) Prafke of Evergreen, Colorado, Beverly (Jeffrey) Brannon of West Chester, Ohio, Rebecca (Jeff) Bland of Hilliard, Ohio; one nephew, Alan (Pamela) Bishop of Springfield; great- nieces and great-nephews, Julia, Karen, Jeremiah, Lindsey, Auston and Samantha; and caregiver and friend, Julia Nickell. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Hobert Bishop and Richard Bishop. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday, July 15 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME, Springfield. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Steven G. Minor officiating.
