"Woody" Bishop, 84 of Rosewood, passed away at 7:40 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009, in Koester Pavilion, Troy. He was born March 21, 1924, in Clark County, a son of the late Clarence and Margaret (German) Bishop. He married Dorothy Jane Wheaton on Jan. 17,1947, and she survives. Together they raised two sons, Clarence "Gene" (Kathy) Bishop of Pahrump, Nev. and Jerry (Donna) Bishop of Rosewood. He also is survived by four grandchildren, Drs. Nicki (Kevin) Kallmeyer of Cincinnati, Kelly (Jodi Adams) Bishop of Rosewood, David Bishop of Phoenix, Ariz., Candace Bishop of Las Vegas, Nev. and six great-grandchildren, Genevieve, Giuliana, and Ettienne Kallmeyer, Kole and Bailey Bishop, and Raiden McCain; two brothers, Harold Bishop of Springfield and Merlin Bishop of New Carlisle and numerous nieces and nephews. A 1942 graduate of Lawrenceville High School, Woody served his country in the Army during World War II. He was a dairy farmer until 1972, and then became an adjuster for Federal Crop Insurance until 2007. He was a past president of the Ohio Holstein Association, Champaign County Farm Bureau and a two time Lion of the Year in the St. Paris Lions Club. He was a 4-H adviser for many years for the Dairy All the Way 4-H Club and a member oftheDeGraffVFW. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Atkins-Shively Funeral Home, 216 S. Springfield St., St. Paris with Pastor Jim Fannin of the Christian Worship Center presiding.
