Dorothy L. Bowen, 89, of Urbana, passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2013, in 
Mercy McAuley Center, Urbana.

She was born Aug. 6, 1923, in Springfield, Ohio, the daughter of William H and 
Nellie L. (Nelson) Miller.

Dorothy was a 1940 graduate of Springfield High School and worked as a 
seamstress from her home for 25 years. She was a former member of the Eagles 
and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, painting and sewing.

She is survived by her brother, William Miller, and sister, Patricia Wheeland, 
both of Urbana, Ohio.

She is preceded in death by her birth parents and by the parents who raised 
her, Walter and Emma Biddleman; her husband, Ansel Bowen; her daughter, Leatha 
Louise Sells; and her sisters, Marylin L. Morgan and Nellwyn K. Argabright.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, April 
14, 2013, in the VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana. Funeral service will be held at 
11 a.m. on Monday in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Oak Dale Cemetery, 
Urbana
