He was born in North Middletown, Kentucky on May 13, 1920, the son of Willie and Edith Brooks. Mr. Brooks served his country in the United States Army during World War II receiving a purple heart and a bronze star. He retired from the Don Handy Chevrolet Dealership having worked in the Auto Body and Paint Shop. He was also a member of the DAV. He was preceded in death by his parents; son Bill Brooks; brother Lester Brooks; sisters Geneva and Jeckel Brooks and two infant sisters. His survivors include his wife Elizabeth Brooks; two sons and one daughter-in-law Brett (Barbara) Brooks of Urbana, David Brooks of Newport, Kentucky; two daughters Laura Lynn Brooks of Middletown and Sue Brooks of Louisville, Kentucky; one brother Louie (Blanch) Brooks of Xenia; two sisters Narcisses (Robert) Bryant of Rogers, Kentucky and Thelma Paxton of Xenia; seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Oakdale Cemetery, Urbana, with Rev. Grant Cordell officiating. Friends and family may call one half hour prior to services.
