"Butch" Brown, 79, of St. Paris, passed away at 1:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17, 2005, at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield. He was born July 20, 1926, in Christiansburg, the son of the late William E. and Gladys (Harvey) Brown. He married Georgia Hobbs on Sept 3,1948, and she survives. He also is survived by four daughters and two sons-in-law, Jane Stewart, Chris and Ronald Purk, Tini and Les Watkins-Brandyberry and Angie Brown, all of St. Paris; 11 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and six siblings, Cordelia (Paul) Clark of St. Paris, Elsie (Frank) Pyle of DeGraff, LaVellva "Blondie" (Lloyd) Littlejohn of St. Paris, Dean (Linda) Brown of DeGraff, Bill (Janet) Brown of Conover and Donnell Brown of Troy. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Butchy Brown; a granddaughter, Renaie Krystene Purk; a sister, Freda Webster; brothers, Robert, Kenny, Charlie, and Herbert Brown; and son-in-law, Karl Webster. Butch worked at Long's Apiaries and St. Paris Welding. He formerly attended Covenant Lutheran Church in St. Paris, where as a child he had perfect Sunday school attendance for nine years. He played softball for the Riser Lake Lakers and was a member of the K of P Lodge 344 of St. Paris. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Atkins-Shively Funeral Home, 216 S. Springfield St., St. Paris, officiated by Dean Brown and Bill Brown. Visitation for family and friends will be two hours prior to the service on Wednesday, beginning at 11 a.m. The pallbearers will be Brian Brandyberry, Dean Brown, Billy Brown, Donnell Brown, Ron Purk and Les Brandyberry. The honorary pallbearers will be John Atkins, Ron Mason, Gus Wilkins, Vemon Rucker, James Wren, Milton Lewis, Frank Pyle, Paul Clark, and Lloyd Littlejohn.
