Brown, 83, formerly of 12167 Grube Road, Saint Paris, passed away at 7:15 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 5, 2003 in Heartland of Piqua. He was bom in Saint Paris on Jan. 9,1919, the son of thelate Clinton Ross and Cleoe (Hamilton) Brown. Mr. Brown was a 1938 graduate of Johnson-St. Paris High School; served during World War II with the United States Army where he was a part of the 37th Division of the South Pacific; and was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. He and his wife owned and operated Brown's Meat Market in St. Paris until their retirement in 1972. Bob was past commander of Keith Cretors Post No. 148 American Legion, St. Paris; a member of Harmony Lodge No. 8 F & AM and Chapter No. 34 Royal Arch Masons, both of Urbana; a former member of the St. Paris Lions Club; and had formerly served on the village council for six years. Survivors include three daughters, Carolyn Sue Braun of Strongsville, Roberta (Tom) Vetters and Darlene Hoyt, both of St .Paris; six grandchildren, Craig (Pam) Braun of Los Angeles, Calif., Michael Vetters of San Diego, Calif., Rob (Stacy) Vetters of Lima, Angela Vetters and Tony and Jennifer Hoyt, all of St. Paris; and two great-grandchildren, Alex Hunter and Ryan Thomas Vetters, both of Lima. In addition to his parents, Mr. Brown was preceded by his wife, L. Lillian Brown who he married on Nov. 7,1945 and passed away on July 1, 2002; two brothers, Kermit and Kenneth Zerkle; and his step-mother, Lois Zerkle Brown. Funeral services will be ehld at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 4023 N. State Route 235, St. Paris with the Rev. Kenneth McDonald officiating. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, St. Paris, with graveside military services being conducted by the Philip Brieser Post No. 7645 Veterans of Foreign Wars and Keith Cretors Post No. 148 American Legion. Visitation for family and friends will be from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Suber Funeral Home, 201 W. Main St., Fletcher, where Masonic memorial services will be held at 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to either-theAtt.'Pteasant Baptist Church of the Johnson-St. Parris E.M.S., P.O.
