She attended Madison State Teachers College, S.D. and she taught grade school in S in South Dakota for several years. She was a member of the St. Paris United Meth Methodist Church were she was active in the church choir. She was editor from 1958 to January of 1995 of the German Shorthaired Pointer Mo Monthly News; was a member of the Buckeye Shorthaired Pointer Club; a member of th the Dog Writers Association of America; an honorary lifetime member of the Ge German Shorthaired Pointer Club of America; and a member of the US. Trotting As Association. She is survived by her husband, Clifford Carlson, who she married on Oct. 21, 1949; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Rory Carlson, Flat Rock, MI, Scott an Vanessa Carlson, St. Paris; two nieces and nephews who she was guardian, Arlene Gloege Gloege, Maryville, Sue Gloege, Torrance, CA, five grandchildren, Michael and Holly Holly Carlson, Lakeview; Jessica and James Carlson, St. Paris; one great grands grandson, Zachary Holbrook, Lakeview; one brother James Smith, Canby, MN; and one si one sister, Marilyn Jenson, Minneapolis, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents. The funeral service will be held at 11 am, Monday, in the St. Paris United Me Methodist Church, with Pastor Paul Zimmerman officiating.
