The Urbana Daily Citizen
Mr. Charles T. "Tom" Clyburn, age 83, of Marion, N.C., passed away on 
Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at his residence. 



A native of Greenfield, OH, he was born on April 13, 1926 to the late Nicholas 
Clyburn and Ida Belle Cogan Clyburn. 



Tom was retired from Laird Packaging, Inc. as plant manager. He served in the 
11th Airborne group during WWII. He will be fondly remembered as a loving 
husband, father and grandfather. His first wife, Rhea Smith Clyburn preceded 
him in death.



Saddened by this loss are his wife, Kaye Ledbetter Clyburn; three children, 
Nick Clyburn of Westville, OH, Nancy Cress and her husband Warren of Urbana, OH 
and Melanie Clyburn of Charlotte; a step-daughter, Kimberly McGee of Marion; a 
sister and a brother, Mary Jane Woodruff and Jack Clyburn, both of Urbana, OH; 
and four grandchildren, Stephanie, Jason, Wesley and Dylan.



A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 31, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in 
Westmoreland Chapel, Marion, N.C. The family will receive friends from 10:00 - 
11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. 



Burial will be in Nettle Creek Cemetery in Westville, OH with military rites 
provided by the U. S. Army and American Legion Pearce-Kerns Post No. 120. Local 
arrangements are by the Walter & Smith Funeral Home, Urbana. 



In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels at 100 Spaulding 
Road, Marion, NC 28752. An online register is available under OBITUARIES at
