The Urbana Daily Citizen-abstract
Jean Comer, 85, of Urbana, passed away peacefully, Sunday, January 8, 2012 in 
her home.
She was born March 19, 1926 in Concord Township, the daughter of Chester 
Phillip and Retta Mae Hesselgesser.
Jean was a lifelong resident of Champaign County. She was a graduate of 
Concord High School and married the love of her life, Tom Comer, on June 30, 
1949. 
Jean was employed by Grimes Aerospace for over 27 years and was a proud member 
of Newsome Missionary Church in St. Paris.

Because of her love of horses and the great outdoors, Jean belonged to the 
Saddle Club and Archery Club and enjoyed competing for over 20 years. 

She loved boating, fishing and camping at Lake Erie.

In her later years, she loved to travel in their RV with Tom to spend long 
winters in the south.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Irene Hesselgesser and her 
brother Delmer Hesselgesser.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, 
January 10, 2012 in the VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 in the 
funeral home with Rev. Jon Ranous officiating; where the family will receive 
friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Concord Cemetery, 
Urbana.
