Conrad, 93, of St. Paris died peacefully Sunday, Sept. 4, 2005, in Hearth and Home Assisted Living, Urbana.He was born in Jackson Twp., Champaign County Aug. 11, 1912, the son of Odus L and Lizzie (Stevens) Conrad.He was a 1930 graduate of Jackson High School. He married Ollie L. Collins on Easter Sunday, March 28, 1937, in Grafton Church. They moved to the farm on State Route 55 and together they operated a dairy farm for more than 40 years. Grayson drove a school bus for Christiansburg-Jackson School for 14 years then served on the board of education for the next 16 years, where he was the president when they consolidated with Graham Local Schools. He then served four years on the combined board as the Jackson Twp. representative, where he became president of the Graham Local Schools. He was a life member of the Farm Bureau serving on the board in Champaign County. He was elected to serve on the PCA Board for 27 years, the president for 20 years, where he was the Recreation, Community and Development Chairman for Champaign and Logan Counties. He was the last charter member of the Farmer's Garden Club, Jackson Twp., which was formed in 1941. He enjoyed the Champaign County Fair from taking animals during his 4-H days, serving on the Fair Board, talking and visiting with many friends, and taking his grandchildren and great-grandchildren to enjoy all the events. He was a member of the Mt. Olivet No. 226 F&AM for more than 60 years and was a member of Olivet Chapter No. 538 Order of Eastern Star. He was a lifetime member of the Grafton United Methodist Church, where he served as a lay speaker and taught adult Sunday school for many years. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda and Charles Brockmeyer of Charleston, S.C. and Mary Lee and Harold Zerkle of Christiansburg; four grandchildren, Kable and Ben Richmond of Columbus, Brigg and Denean Brockmeyer of Columbus, Trent and Angle Zerkle of St. Paris and Jasa and Brian George of Bloomington, Ind.; four great-grandchildren, Grayson B. and Addie C. Richmond, Atchison J. George and Lucy M. Brockmeyer; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Ollie L. of 57 years; sisters Marjorie Conrad and Mildred Nelson; and a brother, Estle Conrad ACelebration Service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Grafton United Methodist Church with Pastor Doug Flinn and Dave Maurer officiating.
