E. Gertrude Daulton, 88, of Urbana, passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2009 in her 
residence surrounded by her family. She was born September 16, 1920 in 
Westville, OH, the daughter of Albert and Alta (Toland) Fout.

She was a 1938 graduate of Westville High School and a 1940 graduate of Moores 
Business College. Gertrude spent 20 years working for the Hall Company in 
Urbana. She was also a lifelong member of the Westville United Methodist 
Church.

She was gifted with her hands and enjoyed embroidering, sewing, and 
crocheting. Gertrude especially enjoyed spending time with her family, 
sometimes traveling to Nebraska or to North Carolina.

She is survived by her daughters, Janet (Donald) Wheeland of North Carolina 
and Nancy (Dennis) Schmitz of Nebraska; sons, Dan (Jane) and Roger (Carol) 
Daulton both of Urbana; grandchildren, Kevin, Vickie, Scott, Tamara, Tracy, 
Allison, Jamie, Nicholas, Shannon, and Donny; 17 great grandchildren; 3 great 
great grandchildren; and a host of friends, including lifelong friend, Dorothy 
Headlee.

She is preceded in death by her husband, David; daughter, Martha Rose; and 
granddaughter, Cynthia Jo.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, July 
9, 2009 at VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana. A funeral service will be held at 
10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 10, 2009 at Westville United Methodist Church with 
Pastor Mike Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery, 
Urbana.
