Luella Marie Davis, 93, formerly of near Christiansburg, passed away at 12:30 
p.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2005, at the Harborside Healthcare Center, Troy.
She was born Feb. 29, 1912, in Shelby County, the daughter of the late John W. 
and Chloe Fern (Mottoe) Hawver.
She was a 1929 graduate of Sidney High School and a member of the Maplewood 
United Methodist Church, Maplewood. In 1982, Luella retired as a custodian at 
Graham South Elementary School, St. Paris.
Survivors include two sons, James R. (Connie) Davis of Urbana and Joe W. Davis 
of St. Paris; one daughter, Norma (Richard) Draper of Christiansburg; eight 
grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and a 
daughter-in-law, Patricia Davis of Troy.
In addition to her parents, Luella was preceded in death by her husband, Homer 
W. Davis, whom she married May 7, 1932 and who passed away March 19, 1999; a 
son, Max R. Davis; two brothers; and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today in the Richeson-Wickham and 
Atkins Funeral Home, 216 S. Springfield St., St. Paris, with the Rev. Bill 
Halter of the Maplewood United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will 
follow in the Terre Haute Cemetery, Urbana.
