"Charlie" 91, of Medway died Wednesday, September 26, 2012 in the Ohio Masonic Home. He was born April 25, 1921 in Tremont City, the youngest and last surviving of seven children of Samuel and Alta May (Bishop) Dibert. Charlie's first ten years at Robbins & Myers were interrupted by thirty-seven months service in the United States Army Field Artillery as a forward observer, with nineteen months in the European Theater. During the early stages of the Battle of the Bulge, he received injuries which sent him to an English Hospital for two weeks. About a year later he was retired from the service as a Staff Sergeant and was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star Medal. Upon returning to R & M after the war, Charlie worked the night shift so he could attend Wittenberg College. After graduating from Wittenberg, he returned to the Purchasing Department for ten years. Charlie then worked for Kelsey-Hayes for several years, and then transferred to Ledex Inc. in Vandalia, retiring as the Purchasing Manager after twenty-four years. During his lifetime, he was a member of Enon United Methodist Church, Medway Lions Club, Eagles Lodge, St. Andrews Lodge #619 F. & A.M, and he enjoyed dancing with his wife, Mary, and playing euchre. He had often mentioned that he and Mary were fortunate to have enjoyed twenty-one years of retirement together, whether it be via land, sea or air. He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law Gary Lee and Cathy Dibert of Laura, Ohio; one daughter and son- in-law Kimberly Jo and Joe Shafer of Springfield; three grandchildren Sara Wilson, Heather Kreibel and Lori Runions; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Winona Dibert; four sisters Mabel Lois Seal, Lilly Ruth Smith, Esther Leona Printz and Mary Ellen Rowe; two brothers Lorn Vernon "Bud" Dibert and Paul Lawrence Dibert. Visitation will be Saturday from 10-11 AM. in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME, Springfield. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 AM. in the Memorial Home with Pastor Jeff Moore officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be in Terre Haute Cemetery.
