Richard Elton Dunn, 84, of Urbana, passed away Saturday, Aug. 1, 2009, in 
Wayne Hospital, Greenville, following a long-term illness. He was born Sept. 
6, 1924, in Springfield, a son of the late Ethel Brooks and Tony Sprohar. 
Richard lived as a young man in Russells Point, where he raced boats for a 
living. He moved to Urbana in 1953. He worked for C.E. Baur Company in 
Springfield and retired in 1986. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. 
Survivors include a daughter, Anna (Dennis) Profitt of Greenville; 
grandchildren, Holley, D.J., Ethan and Nicholas; a great-granddaughter, Alexis 
Nichole; and two stepchildren, Merril Craig and Sheryl Craig both of Urbana. 
He also was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lee Staton Dunn. 
Calling is from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday in Vernon Funeral Home, Urbana, prior 
to an 11:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary Church with Father 
Gregory Konerman officiating. Burial is in Oak Dale Cemetery Urbana.
