He was born on March 22, 1948 in Racine, OH the son of Ralph and Stella (Arnott) Durst. He was a 1967 graduate of Graham High School. Lawrence worked as a truck welder for two years prior to leaving to Vietnam to proudly serve his country in the United States Army. After returning from the war, he worked as a boiler operator for Navistar for 24 years. He enjoyed fishing and gardening. Lawrence also enjoyed taking several trips a year down to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee with Virginia. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years. Lawrence is preceded in death by his parents, brother, R. Larry Durst, brother-in-law, Dave Wolfe; and mother and father in law, John & Clara James. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 11, 2009 in the funeral home with Pastor Paul Baker officiating. Burial will take place at Honey Creek Cemetery, St. Paris, OH.
