Sondra was born June 24, 1936, in Champaign County, a daughter of the late Ralph and Moneta (Mitchell) Brecount. She married Kermit Eaton on Feb. 21,1958, and he preceded her in death March 7, 2000. Sondra is survived by her two children, Kevin (Deb) Eaton of North Lewisburg and Lisa (David) Palmer of St. Paris; three grandchildren, Nicole, Stacy and Kyle Eaton of Jamestown; four step-grandchildren, Dan, Mike, Jordan and Jim; two brothers, James (Sue) Brecount of Urbana and Richard (Brenda) Brecount of St. Paris; nieces and nephews, Shelly Brecount and Mindy Fagen and Tony, Todd and Greg Brecount; two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth (Charles) Evans; family and her special friend and sister-in-law, Fonda Lou Eaton. Other survivors include several aunts, cousins and many other extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Sondra was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan K. Eaton on Oct. 17, 1965. Sondra will always be remembered for her kind and caring heart and loving smile. Sondra was a 1954 graduate of Johnson-St. Paris High School and a 1957 graduate of Miami Valley Hospital School of Nursing. Sondra worked for Dr. Joe Fergus in St. Paris, several nursing homes and hospitals during her nursing career. She and her husband Kermit were co-owners of Eaton's Market in St. Paris. Sondra was a member of Covenant Lutheran Church, however her home church was the First Church of God, and she was a member of Pythian Sisters Jewel Temple No. 307, St. Paris. She also was an avid bowler. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the First Church of God, Walnut Street, St. Paris, with Pastor Larry Messick presiding. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday in the Atkins- Shively Funeral Home, 216 S. Springfield St., St. Paris. Memorial contributions may be made to the Activities Department, Heartland of Piqua Nursing Home, 275 Kienle Drive, Piqua, OH 45356.
