He was born November 12, 1923 in Springfield, OH the son of William Tennyson and Dorothy (Roddy) Errett. Doug served his country in the Army Air Corps during WWII as an Airplane Mechanic. He was a member of the Terre Haute United Methodist Church as well as the Beech Grove Grange, the Ohio State Grange and was a past Deputy of the Champaign and Clark County Grange. Doug loved to fish, read, hunt mushrooms and travel. He and Betty had visited nearly all 50 United States with the exception of Alaska and Hawaii. After retiring he worked part time for the Mad River Township Trustees. He is survived by his wife, Betty Errett of Terre Haute; his son, Bob (Debbie) Errett of Terre Haute; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Errett of St. Paris; his grandchildren, John (Kris) Errett, Tony (Leanna) Errett, Justin (Jill) Errett, Clayton (Hillery) Errett and Mitchell Errett, 10 great grandchildren; his sisters, Jean (Richard) Sheets of Urbana and Margie Leonard of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, his son, Dick Errett; his daughter, Marilyn E. Errett; his great granddaughter, Virginia Errett; and his brothers, Charles, Jack and Paul Errett. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Friday, April 23, 2010 in the Vernon Funeral Home 235 Miami St., Urbana. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 24, 2010 in the Terre Haute United Methodist Church with the Rev. Frank Kampel officiating.
