Evans, 84, of Piqua and formerly of St. Paris died at 7 p.m. Monday, May 9, 2005, in the Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy. He was born in St. Paris on Feb. 24,1921, the son of the late Grover and Mary (Blue) Evans. He married Norma Jean Evans on June 23,1943, and she preceded him in death on April 2, 2002. He is survived by two sons and a daughter in law, Steven R. and Peggy A. Evans of St. Paris and Randy Evans of Conover; two daughters and a son-in-law, Linda and Kenneth Crabtree of Kettering and Sarah Davis of Lehigh Acres, Fla.; six grandchildren, Jason (Molly) Crabtree of Dublin, Heather (Scott) Hole of Piqua, Erica Evans of St. Paris, Danny Neves of Minot, N.D., Andrea (David) Silver of Ft. Myers, Fla., and Darren Evans of Troy. He also is survived by seven great- grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and his wife he was preceded in death by an infant son, Joseph Walter Evans; two brothers, Donald and Darnell Evans; and one sister, Helen Kite. Richard served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He worked as a civilian employee at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Fairbom and retired in 1980 as a warehouse manager. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Richeson-Wickham & Atkins Funeral Home, 216 S. Springfield St., St. Paris, with Pastor Dale McCabe of New Carlisle presiding. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery with military honors. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
