"Heavy" Finch, 66, of Urbana, died Tuesday, June 17, 2008, in Mercy Memorial Hospital, Urbana. He was born in Tremont City on April 15, 1942, a son of the late Daniel R. and Martha L. Knisley Finch. He also was preceded in death by a sister, a brother and a sister-in-law. Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Lorena Rice Finch; three daughters, Lorrie E. (Mike) Grumbley of Florida, Joyce (Richard) Funk of West Liberty and Amy L. (Steve) Heath of Bellefontaine; five grandchildren, William M. "Willie" and Leo D. Grumbley, Matthew L. Funk, Sarah L. Willman and Emma J. Heath; three greatgrandchildren; a brother, David H. (Lynne B.) Finch of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A 1961 graduate of Northwestern High School, he served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. In December 2001, he retired from Navistar International as a union representative, after more than 38 years of service. During retirement, he worked as an associate with Rush Expeditors Service for more than five years. He was a member of U.A.W. Local 402, American Legion Post 173 in Bellefontaine and Springfield Eagles Lodge 397. He enjoyed his grandchildren, surfing on the computer and was an avid sports enthusiast. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday in the Walter- Schoedinger Funeral Home, Urbana, where a funeral begins at 10 a.m. Saturday. Burial is in Oak Dale Cemetery, Urbana.
