William Gibson, 70, of Urbana passed away Friday, June 6, 2008 in the Mercy 
Memorial Hospital ER. 

William was born July 23, 1937 in Champaign County, the youngest son of Bryson 
& Corline (Cole) Gibson's thirteen children. He was employed by Benjamin Steel 
as a ranch hand for over 20 years and retired from the City of Urbana after 20 
years of service and Logan Farm after 10 years of service. Bill loved horses 
and had a natural way with them. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis G. Gibson whom he married on September 17, 
1976; Children, Darrell Lee (Alice) Spriggs of Piketon, Sandra Jean (Tony) 
Mattox of Urbana, Richard Harrison Spriggs of Chillicothe, Clarissa (Myron) 
Feather of Urbana, Kristi Jo (Phil) Winston of Springfield, Rodney "Tim" Ward 
of Piqua; 15 Grandchildren and 29 Great Grandchildren; Sisters, Virginia Slone 
of Urbana, Betty Swan of Dian, TX; Several nieces, nephews and his faithful 
dog, Sam; Along with may very special friends including; Glines Butter, Larry 
Workman, Charlie Stuart & Bob Stuart.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sons, Robert Keith Spriggs in 2007 and 
William Alfred Spriggs in 1984; 2 great-grandchildren; 9 brothers and 1 
sister. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5-8 PM Tuesday, 
June 10, 2008 in the Vernon Funeral Home, Urbana. Graveside services will be 
held at 10 AM on Wednesday in the Chapel at Oakdale Cemetery, Urbana, with Tom 
Rooney officiatin
