Alberta Mae Goodwin, 80, of Lakeview and formerly of Urbana, passed away 
Thursday, Nov. 25, 2010, at Heartland of Indian Lake Rehab Center, Lakeview. 
She was born Aug. 13, 1930, in Dayton, to the late Charles L. and Lillian 
Miller Claybaugh. On Nov. 14, 1964, she married Leo Goodwin and he preceded 
her in death. She was also preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Bertha M. 
Claybaugh.
She is survived by a brother, Leslie Gene (Peggy Evilsizor) Claybaugh of 
Trenton, Fla., two nephews, Daniel E. (Jennifer) Claybaugh of Lakeview and 
Michael E. Claybaugh of Palm Springs, Calif., a great-nephew, Adam (Shelley 
Spriggs) Claybaugh, and three great-nieces, Alison (B.J.) Curtis, Caleigh 
Craft and Casey Craft.
Alberta was a nurse at Grandview Hospital in Dayton for 37 years, retiring in 
1974. She loved animals and supported several animal rescues, shelters and 
organizations.
Per Mrs. Goodwin’s request, her body was cremated. A memorial service begins 
at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 22, at Shoffstall Funeral Home, Lakeview. Burial is 
at a later date in Rosedale Cemetery, St. Paris.
Contributions may be given in her name to the American Diabetes Association 
and to local humane societies.
