He was born on December 29, 1919 in Springfield, Ohio the son of William and Delta (Fisher) Haddix. Richard was employed by Dingledine Trucking in Terre Haute for over 37 years and Mad River Township for over 10 years. He was also a World War II veteran. He was a member of the Terre Haute United Methodist Church and the Champaign county Shrine Club, as well as the Junior Order of United American Mechanics and a Lifetime member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Emily Haddix; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie (Randy) Bair of St. Paris and Diane (Steve) Fleckenstein of Quincy; four grandchildren, Carrie and Chad Thompson of St. Paris, Debon and Forrest Sherman of Sidney, Brandi Fleckenstein and Jason Long of Sidney and Amy Bair and fiancé` Eddie Davis of St. Paris; great-grandchildren, Chrysler and Jay Sherman and Lane and Drew Thompson; one brother, Ervin Haddix of Piqua. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, three sisters and great-grandson, Caleb Long. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2005 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 23, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. in the Terre Haute United Methodist Church with Pastor Frank Kampel officiating. Burial will follow in Terre Haute Cemetery.
