Haggard, 91 of Urbana passed away Thursday, December 22, 2011 in Hearth and Home of Urbana. Harold was born February 13, 1920, in Wheelersburg, OH the son of Dennis and Myrtle (Regan) Haggard. Harold graduated from Salem Local Schools and was a veteran of WWII, serving aboard the battleship U.S.S. Colorado from 1942 to 1946 as a Gunner's Mate 1st Class, receiving a Purple Heart. He was a member of Harmony Lodge #8 Free and Accepted Masons, Chapter #34 of Royal Arch Masons of Ohio Council #59 of Royal and Select Masons, a past president of the Methodist Men of the Urbana United Methodist Church, a chief of the Box 13 Volunteer Fire Department, and past Commander of the Disabled American Veterans of Urbana. Harold married Jean Huddleston of Urbana on April 6, 1944. He worked for the United States Post Office from 1946 until 1973, retiring as a regional postal officer. He is survived by Jean his wife of 67 years, children, Mark (Sheryl) Haggard of Urbana, Tamara (Eric) Jones of Xenia, OH, Bret (Cheryl) Haggard of Tucson AZ; nine grandchildren; Olivia (James) Lantz of Perryton, OH, Stefan and Randal Haggard of Springfield, OH, Devin Jones of Phoenix, AZ, Taryn Jones of Centerville, OH, Bret Jones of Xenia, OH, Kelly (John) O'Connell of Tucson, AZ, Karey (David) Ochoa of Tucson, AZ, Kendra (Paul) Curlee of Maricopa, AZ, and seven great grandchildren; sister Joan Russell of Springfield and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Howard Vaughn, his parents, brother Clyde, twin brother Howard, sisters, Tanie Boyd, Wilmoth Leavitte, Geneva Jordan, Omega Parker, Claudia Howard and Ruth Chandler. The family will receive friends 12:00 noon - 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 7, 2012 in the WALTER & SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 642 S. Main Street, Urbana, where funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Jim Lillibridge officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Dale Cemetery, Urbana.
