He was born September 15, 1937 in Springfield, Ohio the son of the late Samuel & Carrie Elizabeth (Lugg) Hart. Roger graduated from South High School in Springfield. He served his country in the United States Air Force's reserve for over 20 years. He retired in 1999, with over 33 years, from Navistar. Roger was an avid gun collector and enjoyed Grey hound dog racing. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the National Republican Party. Roger is survived by his sons, Roger Lamar (Lauri) Hart of Cincinnati, James Carl (Jennifer) Hart of New Carlisle, Allen Lowell (Terri) Hart of Springfield and Brian Michael Hart of Springfield, 10 grandchildren, his former wife and friend of 45 years, Janet E. (Slagle) Hart of Huber Heights; his sisters, Mary (Ray) Mott of St. Paris, Thelma Giles of Gallipolis, Dorothy Beatty of Urbana, Gee Gee (Gerald) Gracy of New Carlisle & Nancy (Ronald) Strader of Springfield, his sister-in-law, Winnie Hart Springfield, as well as numerous nieces and nephews of several generations. He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Samuel Hart Jr., his sisters, Edna Moore and Bertha Hart and his brother-in-laws, Claire Giles and Frank Beatty. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 1:00-3:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 4, 2007 in the Vernon Funeral Home, Urbana. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. Burial will be in Terre Haute Cemetery.
