Heaton, age 69, of Conover passed away in his residence on Saturday, June 18, 2011. Roger was born on September 6, 1941 in St. Paris, Ohio the son of the late Roy Heaton and Mildred (Allebach) Heaton and she survives. He married Helen Washburn on April 25, 1985 and she died on February 11, 2006. Roger is survived by three step-children; Cynthia Redmon of Springfield, Donald Ferryman of Sidney and Lynn Wheaton of California, two step grandchildren; Major Redmon of Botkins and Shea Redmon of Sidney and several other step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. A brother William R. (Joyce) Heaton of Conover and a sister Marilyn (James B.) Smith of Medway also survive. Roger was a 1960 graduate of Graham Local Schools. He formerly worked at Chrysler Airtemp of Dayton before retiring from Ohio Connection of Sidney. He also worked as a farmer. Roger served in the U.S. Army Reserves for 32 years. He was a member of the Harmony Chapter #8 Masonic Lodge of Urbana, Royal Arch Chapter #34 of Urbana, Eastern Star Chapter #530 of Urbana and the Fraternal Order of Eagles of Springfield. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June, 22 2011 at 11 a.m. in the ATKINS-SHIVELY FUNERAL HOME, 216 S. Springfield St., St. Paris, with Reverend Dr. James VanZile of the First Baptist Church presiding. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held prior to the funeral service beginning at 9 a.m. Masonic services will be held at 10:45 a.m. by Harmony Lodge Chapter #8 of Urbana.
