Mr. Hill is preceded in death by his parents Homer James and Alice Robinson Hill; brothers Homer (Aggie), Lester, and Donald (Donna); and sisters Carol, Janet, and Marjorie. Despite a vision disability from childhood, Mr. Hill was a life-long athlete or coach, with a particular passion for fast-pitch softball. A his physical abilities diminished, he increasingly put his energy and heart into coaching, having coached and mentored three generations of softball athletes. He devoted much time, energy, voice, and skill to St. Paul AME Church. As a result, he was comforted and aided often and freely by church members. Mr. Hill had overriding driving force to help anyone, anytime, whenever the need arose, and to do so expecting and accepting nothing in return.
