Hoey, age 81 of St. Paris passed away at 12:34 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15, 12011 in her residence. Betty was born on December 5,1929 in Trumbull County, Mineral Ridge, I Ohio. She was the daughter of the late William A. and Freida (Petzold) Berry. She married Harry I William Hoey on April 19, 1952 and he preceded her in death on February 15, 2002. Together they I raised six children. Three sons: Robert (Pam) Hoey of Christiansburg, Christopher Hoey of Marysville, Thomas (Shirley) Hoey of St. Paris, and three daughters: Mary Bright (Mike Christian) of I Marysville, Jacqueline (Larry) Picklesimer of Irwin, and Judith Simons of Urbana. She was a loving j grandmother to thirteen grandchildren: Chad (Kathleen) Hoey of Lafayette, IN, Chasity Obum of I Christiansburg, Tyler Hoey of Lacey, WA. Joseph, Bryan and Andrew Hoey of St. Paris, Rob (Amanda) Bright of Seattle, WA, Anthony (Shaena) Bright of Richland, WA, Angela Bright of Marysville, Michelle Switzer of Urbana, Brad (Jennifer) Russell of Urbana, Shawn (Taylor) Simons of Urbana, Ashley Simons of Urbana; and seventeen great grandchildren: Rebeccah, Sarah, Aiden, I Brantlee, Alyta, Delaney, Vance, Kendall, Isaac, Dunston, Drue, Lily, Drew, Brystol, Landyn, ; Zehyne, and Aubryel. She is also survived by a brother, William Berry, Jr. of Ft. Meyers Beach, ! Florida, and her dog, Winston. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by I a nephew, Vic Berry. Betty loved to sew and had a large collection of sewing material. She also liked ' to travel and enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Most of all, Betty was a very giving person. This began when she graduated in 1948 from Ursuline High School, and in 1951 from St. Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing, both in Youngstown. She became a registered nurse and worked for Mt. Carmel Hospital in Columbus, and she retired in 1995 from Mercy Memorial Hospital in Urbana. She spent her life caring for her family, raising her children, all white working, and she never complained. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, St. Paris, where a funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. with Father William Kramer as celebrant. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, St. Paris. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Atkins-Shively Funeral Home, 216 S. Springfield Street, Saint Paris, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, C/O St. Mary's Catholic Church, 731 Washington Street, Urbana, Ohio 43078.
