She had been in failing health for more than a year. * Thelma had lived in the St. Paris area for more than 50 years, moving there following her Aug. 14, 1940, marriage to Robert Hughes. After leaving the area for a few years, they returned and bought a farm south of St. Paris in 1951. She lived there until Robert's death in 1998 when she moved to Otterbein. Thelma is survived by two daughters, Karen (Frank) Brelsford of Columbia, Md. and Peggy (Charles) Huddleston of St. Marys; three grandsons; one granddaughter; and one great-granddaughter. Thelma was so proud of her grandchildren, and liked to brag that she had three school teachers David and Keely Brelsford of Catonsville, Md., and Andrew Huddleston of St. Marys and four doctors chiropractors Rob and Jenny Huddleston of Ft. Loramie and pharmacists Jarrett and Carrie (Brelsford) Amsden of Noblesville, Ind. She adored her only great-grandchild, Amelia Brelsford, of Catonsville, Md. In St. Paris, she was active in the Jackson Grange, the Ladies Auxiliary of Philip Grieser Memorial VFW Post 7645 of St. Paris and the homemakers club in Christiansburg. She loved to crochet and cook. In addition to her daughters, Thelma also is survived by a sister, Mary Kathleen Tuthill of West Alexandria. Her parents and a brother, Raymond, predeceased her.
