Jacobs, age 87, of St. Paris passed away at 6:20 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 20, 2009, in Piqua Manor Nursing Home. Gale was born July 30, 1922, in Miami County, the son of Russell and Audry Jacobs. He also is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Gale was a loving grandfather to five grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters, Louise Clyne, Margery Devers, Helen Allen, Peggy Bair, and Sarah Oldham and two brothers, Marvin and Ralph Jacobs. Gale served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired from Chrysler and was formerly employed by Troy Sunshade and O.A. Smith. He will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Atkins-Shively Funeral Home, 216 S. Springfield St., St. Paris, Ohio, with Pastor Isabelle Steele of the Covenant Lutheran Church presiding. Burial will follow in Upper Honey Creek Cemetery with military honors by the Veterans Elite Tribute Squad. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
