She was born on Feb. 24, 1935, in Greene County, the daughter of the late Frank Mowen and Louella (Graham) Mowen. She married Norman A. Jenkins on Oct. 14,1950, and he survives. Her mother, Louella Sudol of St. Paris, also survives. Phyllis was mother to three children. Surviving children are daughter and son- in-law, Sharon and Dan Tullis of Bellefontaine and David Jenkins of Urbana. She was a loving grandmother to five grandchildren, Andy Jenkins of Virginia Beach, Va., Rebecca Watkins of Milliard, Carrie (Gene) Willoby of Quincy, Katie Tullis and Ethan Tullis of Bellefontaine; and six great-grandchildren. She also is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, JoAnne (DeWayne) Hensley of Urbana; and many nieces and nephews. Phyllis was preceded in death by her father, Frank Mowen; a daughter, Shelly Carroll; a brother, Richard Mowen; and a sister, (Catherine Birt. Phyllis was employed by Thornton's Carpets and she formerly worked for Cain's IGA in St. Paris. She retired from Terra International and Champaign Landmark. She attended the Urbana Church of the Nazarene and formerly attended the St. Paris Church of God. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Urbana Church of the Nazarene, 1999 E. State Route 29, Urbana, with Pastors Wes Glines and Gary Morgan presiding. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, St. Paris. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 2-8 p.m. Friday in the Atkins-Shively Funeral Home, 216 S. Springfield St., St. Paris. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Association of Champaign County, P.O. Box 38125, Urbana, OH 43078 or to Community Mercy Hospice, 1343 N. Fountain Blvd. Springfield, OH 45504.
