Oneta was born on January 9, 1915 in Champaign County, a daughter of the late William F. and Flora Elizabeth (Hamilton) Pence. She married Virgil Licklider on May 31, 1933 and he preceded her in death on November 7, 1986. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, George and Annie Licklider of Urbana, a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Darrell Simler of Wichita, KS, four granddaughters, Kristin Elaine (Keith) Quick of Suwannee, GA, Kerry Ellen (Chuck) Bauer of Springfield, Teresa Dill of Springfield, and Diana Whitaker of Jamestown; 6 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by 2 sisters. Oneta was a 1933 graduate of St. Paris High School. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening. At one time she made and sold candles, giving demonstrations to area school. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in the Atkins-Shively Funeral Home, 216 S. Springfield Street with Reverend Don Brown of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church presiding. Burial will follow in Rosedale Cemetery, N. St. Rt. 235, St. Paris. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 4023 N. St. Rt. 235, Saint Paris, Ohio. Envelopes will be available in the funeral home.
