Ruth Elizabeth McClure, 97, of Urbana passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2011 in 
Hearth and Home Community, Urbana. She was born June 14,1913 in St. Paris the 
daughter of Lawrence Washington and Mary Selma (Jenkins) Runkle.
Ruth was a 1931 graduate of Christiansburg-Jackson High School. She was m
multitalented and crafty; and enjoyed crocheting and knitting. Ruth was known f
for having a 'Green Thumb'. She was an avid gardener and could grow anything.
Ruth was a loving mother and grandmother. She is survived by her son, Fred 
(Joyce) McClure of Urbana; her daughter Mary 'Joan' (Paul) Hitter of Buchanan, 
Tenn.; grandchildren, Jennifer (Jon) Organiscak of Powell, Ohio, Heather (Karl) 
Russell of Fayetteville, Ohio, Hope (Chris) Current of Batesville, Ind. and 
Scott (Melissa) McClure of Olaphe, Kan.; 8 greatgrandchildren and 1 great-great 
granddaughter; brother Lawrence Richard (Barb) Runkle of St. Paris; sister-in-law,
Jean 
law, Jean Runkle of Urbana; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Jack McClure; brothers, Warren, Paul 
and William Runkle; her sisters Evelyn Beaty, Grace Clark, Frances Jean Kiser a
and Doris Anderson.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 3-6 p.m. on Sunday, March 
27, 2011 in the VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana. Funeral service will be held at 10 
a.m. on Monday in the funeral home with Pastor Jeff Harper officiating. Burial 
will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, St. Paris.
