The Urbana Daily Citizen-abstract
John N. McGuire, 86, passed away in McAuley Center, Urbana, on Tuesday, June 
27 at 11:40 p.m. 

John Nicholas McGuire was born July 19, 1919, on the McGuire Homestead in 
Salem Township, Urbana, to Nicholas Oliver and Ruth Bodey McGuire. 

John attended Salem Schools and was a prominent farmer in Concord Township. 

He was a member of The Champaign County Farm Bureau and attended Concord 
Methodist Church. John will be remembered as a kind and honest man.

John married Ota Alice Fitzgerald on Sept. 24, 1941. They enjoyed over 59 
years of marriage before Ota’s death in November of 2000. John and Ota enjoyed 
their travels to every state in the U.S. except Alaska and Hawaii.

Surviving are son John L. (Jack) McGuire and wife Bonnie of Urbana, and John 
was preceded in death by a son, Jerry L. McGuire, and sister, Donna Margaret 
Huffman.

Rev. Wayne Engle officiating. Burial will be in Concord Cemetery, Urbana.
