"Bid" of Urbana walked into the fullness of glory at his residence Friday morning, March 18, 2005. He was born in Urbana, Ohio on October 3, 1917, son of George E. and Lillian (Hill) Mosley. Lawrence was a United State Postal Mail carrier for 30 years and then retired to then enjoy working another 28 years at the WALTER-SCHOEDINGER FUNERAL HOME. He was a member of the Jerusalem Baptist Church. He was the Junior Warden in the Golden Square Lodge 23 Free and Accepted Masons. He was a former City Councilman, former Republican Central Committee member second Ward. Throughout his life he loved watching every sport, but his greatest love was watching football and basketball and especially Urbana High School football. He was a serious reader and wrote poetry. He was a devoted Dad, Papa, Grandpa Bid and Uncle Bid. Bid is what most people called him, was a proud lifelong resident of Urbana who most people knew either through his mail route or from working at the funeral home, but all knew him remember his most for his clever words that would always put a smile on their face. He is survived by his daughter, Marcia (David) Nash of Urbana; grandchildren, Melani (Rubin) Knight of Springfield, David (Marsha) Nash of New Albany, Ohio, Larry (Dana) Muhammed, Amber Muhammed all of Springfield, Cicely Nash of New Albany, Ohio and Salimah (Anthony) Berrien of Springfield; 11 great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Warren (Mary) Boyd of California and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Jeanette Boyd Mosley in 1961; his son, Larry Mosley in 1991; second wife, June Walker Mosley and by his two brothers, Paul and Elwood Mosley. Friends may call Monday, March 21, 2005 5-8 p.m. in the WALTER-SCHOEDINGER FUNERAL HOME, A Dignity Memorial Provider. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at 1 p.m. in the Jerusalem Baptist Church with, Rev. Joel King officiating. Burial to follow in Oakdale Cemetery.
