Nelsh, 84, of Bellefontaine, passed away Friday, Jan. 16, 2009, in Mary Rutan Hospital. She was born in Logan County on May 19, 1924, a daughter of the late Grover and Frankie Williams Weaver. Wanda was a 1943 graduate of West Liberty High School. She was a member of the North Lewisburg Immaculate Conception Church and its Altar Society. Throughout her life, Wanda loved to play the piano. She was proud to be part of the Democratic Party and for more than 30 years she worked the polls for Salem Township. She was a member of the Champaign County swinging seniors. She was Caregiver by nature, she either would visit with those who needed care or by telephone. She loved to spend time with her family and grandchildren; they meant the world to her. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the loving care that Wanda experienced at Logan Acres and Mary Rutan Hospital. She is survived by her daughters, Ritajane Slemmons of Bellefontaine and Becky (Dwain) Hollingsworth of Quincy; son, Mike (Leslie) Nelsh of West Liberty; grandchildren, Teresa (Daniel) Jackson of DeGraff, Janie Hollingsworth of Denver, David (Ellyn) Hollingsworth of Quincy, Nicole (Jeff) Konz of Bellefontaine, Shawn Slemmons of North Lewisburg and Abby Nelsh of Lafayette, Ind.; great-grandchildren, Josh, Joe and Jon Jackson, Lane, Eli and Levi Hollingsworth; her sister, Gaythel Singleton of Columbus; and her sister-in- law, Betty Weaver of Brick, N.J.; as well as several nieces, nephews and many friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, John R. Nelsh; her son, Mark; her sister, Mardell Jule; and her brother, Dayno Weaver; as well as an infant sister and three infant brothers. A gathering of family and friends is from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Freshwater, McDonald & Vernon Funeral Home, North Lewisburg. A Mass of Christian burial is at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Immaculate Conception Church, North Lewisburg, with the Rev. Larry Gearhart and Pastor Walt Mansfield. Burial follows in Oakdale Cemetery, Urbana.
