David L. Packer, 56, of Urbana, passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at Ohio 
State Medical Center, Columbus, OH. 
He was born June 3, 1952 in Urbana, the son of John and Barbara (Mathers) 
Packer.

He was a 1970 graduate of Urbana High School and then went on to graduate from 
Urbana University. 
David was a member of Harmony Lodge #8 F & A.M. and Champaign County Shrine 
Club. He loved sports and enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sue; daughter Michelle L. (Brian J.) 
Collins of Urbana; grandchildren, Heather Packer and Selene Collins, both of 
Urbana; brothers, John L. (Texanna "Mickey") Packer and Robert (Chloe) Packer 
both of Urbana; sisters, Deborah Packer of Urbana and Linda (James) Sawyer of 
Urbana; and numerous other family members and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2 - 5 p.m. on Sunday, 
April 5, 2009 at VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana. A Masonic service will be held 
at 5 p.m. on Sunday following the visitation. A funeral service will be held 
at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 6, 2009 in the funeral home with Rev. Michael 
Parr officiating. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery.
