The Urbana Daily Citizen-abstract
James “Larry” Porter, 62, of Urbana, passed away Monday, February 18, 2013, in 
his home. He was born July 12, 1950, in Springfield, Ohio, and was a 1968 
graduate of North High School. He served his country in the United States Army 
as a Specialist 5th Class during Vietnam.
Larry enjoyed golfing and was an avid fan of the University of Kentucky 
Basketball. He was a member of the Urbana Pearce-Kerns American Legion Post 
#120, where he served as past commander, the Urbana VFW, AMVETS, the Urbana 
Eagles, the Union Club & Machinist Club.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Chester Austin and Dorothy Agnes 
(Doty) Porter.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, 
February 23, 2013, in the VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana, where services will 
follow at 11 a.m. Pastor Jim Chess will officiate. Burial will follow in Oak 
Dale Cemetery, Urbana
