She was born on February 5, 1935 in Montgomery County, Ohio, the daughter of the late William Henry and Edith Marie (Houseman) Burden. She married Benjamin Lamar Prince on October 27, 1968 and he preceded her in death on May 21, 1985. Joyce is survived by two daughters and two sons-in-law: Leta and Jeffrey McCulla of St. Paris, Lola and Phillip Merilli of Pennsylvania; two sons and two daughters-in-law: Benjamin and Heather Prince Jr. of Springfield, and Steven and Susan Prince of St. Paris. She was a loving grandmother to nine grandchildren: Yvette McCulla, Nicholas McCulla, Kyla (Merilli) Thayer, Vance McCulla, Danielle Merilli, Shelby Merilli, Donald Russell, Brandon Russell, Siren Prince and additional grandchild is due in March. Seven brothers and two sisters also survive her: Delores (Richard) Atchinson, James Burden, Richard (Rhea) Burden, William Burden, Michael (Beverly) Burden, Steven (Stella) Burden, Donald (Teiga) Burden, Gerald (Robin) Burden and Sue (Michael) Niemeyer. Two sisters, Lois Norris and Betty Louden preceded Joyce in death as well as two infant daughters. Joyce was a homemaker and was a very active member in the community. She belonged to the Red Hat Society, Golden Oldies Bowling League and the Thursday Senior Citizen Bowling of St. Paris. She was also president of Valley Garden Club, Senior Citizen Art Class and was a member of the YMCA. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 29, 2006 in the ATKINS-SHIVELY FUNERAL HOME, 216 S. Springfield Street, Saint Paris, Ohio with Rev. Jim Lyons presiding. Burial will follow in Spring Grove Cemetery, St. Paris.
