"Purky" Purk, 80, of St. Paris passed away at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15, 2006, in the Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy, after spending 15-1/2 years on dialysis. She was born May 1, 1925 in Union County, Ky., the daughter of Kirby S. and Ernie (Newman) Sale. She married Donald L. Purk on Aug. 10, 1942, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 10,1985. She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Donald S. Purk of Piqua and Dwight and Felicia Purk of Sidney; two daughters and son-in-law, Janice Parthemore of St. Paris and Sharon (Harry) Huffman of West Liberty; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Pat Sale of Morganfield, Ky.; a sister and brother-in-law, Frances and Sam Irvin of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; and a sister-in-law, Mag Sate of Piqua. In addition to her parents and her husband, she also was preceded in death by brothers, Earl Sale, Paul Sale, Roy Penley and Kirby Sale; a sister, Margaret Letner; and a son-in-law, Bertrum Parthemore. "Purky" was a homemaker and a caregiver all of her life. She resided at Heartland of Piqua. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Atkins-Shively Funeral Home, 216 S. Springfield St., St. Paris. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, St. Paris. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
