She was born on Dec. 18, 1920, in Champaign County, the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Pence Baseore. She married Richard Caven Putnam on April 4,1942. She met Richard when she was a secretary to the superintendent of Johnson-St. Paris Schools. Richard preceded her in death on Nov. 5, 1985. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Eric Wayne and Mary Howard Putnam of St. Paris; and two grandchildren, Lynn Marie Putnam of Sidney and Mark Howard Putnam of St. Paris; sister-in-law Kathleen (Willard) Putnam of Fletcher; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Chuck and Norma Putnam Borror of Fletcher; two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, David and Windley Putnam of Worthington and Duane and Elizabeth Putnam of Washington, D.C.; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a brother, Warren Pence, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Don and Katie Putnam and brother-in-law, Willard Putnam. Middy graduated from Johnson-St. Paris High School in 1938, and had attended numerous alumni reunions. She was a homemaker and enjoyed flower arranging, gardening, playing cards and visiting with family and friends. She was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church, where she served in many capacities over the years. She was a member of the St. Paris, now Urbana Chapter 530 Order of Eastern Star for 71 years. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the Suber-Shively Funeral Home, 201 W. Main St., Fletcher. Eastern Star Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home, with Pastor Dave Kepple of the St. Paris United Methodist Church presiding. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, St. Paris. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Paris United Methodist Church, P.O.
