Mr. Rademacher was born in Wheaton, Illinois on March 20, 1924. He served in the Army overseas in Europe. He was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, the Bronze Star, four combat stars while serving in Co. D, 324th Inf. Reg., 44th Inf. Division of the 7th Army in France, German and Austria. In 1949, he graduated from the University of Illinois Law School, where he obtained a commission as 2nd Lieutenant in the Air Force Reserve. He was a member of AKL social fraternity and Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity. He married Geraldine Barnhart in 1947 in Urbana, Ohio. Two sons were born of that marriage, Rick and Ted. Dick was an officer in management for the Barnhart Stores until 1975, when upon the death of Corwin Barnhart, he became executive officer until 1987 when the stores were closed. His wife, June (Davidson) Rademacher; two sons, Rick (Constance) Rademacher and Ted Rademacher; Step-sons, Kim (Marilyn) Davidson and Douglas (Renee) Davidson; step-daughter, Lori (Jody) Davidson Veldkamp; sister, Joan Klem, 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren survive him. Dick was active in his church, Urbana United Methodist Church, throughout his life as well as being interested in both civic and societal responsibilities. In his latter years, he and June became full time Motor homers and visited most of the United States as well as Canada and Mexico. Civic duties included the following: President of the Urbana Chamber of Commerce, Vice President of the original Charter Commission for the City of Urbana, appointed to the Board on Race Relations of the City of Urbana, and elected as 1st Ward Chairman of the Republican Party. Societal responsibilities included Chairman of both Cub and Boy Scout troops, P.T.A. President of South Ward, Urbana Local and Urbana Community High School, President of the Champaign County Cancer Society, served on the board of the Urbana Red Cross, and was a member of the Board of Directors of Perpetual Federal Savings and Loan Company for 18 years. He was also a member and served on the boards of the Lions Club, the Rotary Club of Urbana and was a Life Member of American Legion Post #741. It was his wish that upon his death, his body be cremated and the remains be buried in the family plot in Oakdale Cemetery.
