Funeral Home-abstract
Helen L. Sturgeon Richeson, age 95, of Gainesville, Florida, passed away on 
March 9, 2012. 

Born on September 13, 1916 in St. Paris, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late 
Nellie and Wid Sturgeon.

She attended Johnson-St. Paris School and was a graduate of Wittenberg College 
in 1938 and received a Master's Degree in Adult Education from the University 
of South Florida. On June 17, 1941, Helen married Herman Baker Richeson and 
they resided in St. Paris where her husband worked with his father as a 
funeral director at Richeson Funeral Home. They had one child, James, before 
Herman was killed in action during WWII in Belgium in 1945 on the last day of 
the Battle of the Bulge. In 1948, Charlene Magovern joined the family and in 
1957 the three moved to Bradenton, Florida where Helen lived until moving to 
Gainesville, Florida in 2007. Helen taught elementary school for over 30 years 
and was the program director of a Migrant Adult Education program at Manatee 
Junior College before her retirement.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2012 in the Atkins-
Shively Funeral Home, 216 S. Springfield Street, Saint Paris, Ohio at 1 p.m. 
with her granddaughter, Reverend Janie Blakely, presiding. 

Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, St. Paris.
