George A. Rose, 79, of Urbana, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2013 in 
Kettering Medical Center.
He was born March 27, 1934 in Whitley County, KY, the son of James and Lydia 
(Bailey) Rose. George faithfully attended the Church of God in Urbana. He was 
known to be a very generous man. George loved gardening, golfing, and spending 
time with his family.
He is survived by his daughter, Rhonda L. (Jeff) Cornwell of Monroe, his son, 
David A. Rose of Urbana, grandchildren, Victoria Rose, Josiah David, Sasha 
Noelle, Addison Marie and Andrie Miquelle; his brother, Olan (Rosa Lee) Rose of 
Middletown; sisters, Ila Beichler of Dayton and Sylsie Reeves of Corbin, KY; 
sister-in-law, Cleo White of Wilmington and Vivian Lacy of Manchester; as well 
as several nieces, nephews and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mattie I. Rose; sisters, Cecie 
Ridner, Rhea McCormick, Cordia Moore and Ossie Rose; brother-in-law, William 
White; sister-in-law, Betty Ferguson.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 in the 
Church of God in Urbana with Rev. David Gammello officiating.
The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Burial will follow in Newson Cemetery, St. Paris, Ohio.
