He was converted and received into the fellowship of the Baptist church at Louisville, KY, and baptized by the Rev Henry Alfred PORTER, DD, Feb 10, 1910. He was a faithful follower of his Savior and took an active and leading part in church, Sunday school and BYPU work. The dream of his life being to follow the footsteps of his father in the ministry of the gospel. He graduated first in his class in the St Paris High School, class of 1917, also graduated among the first at the Mountain State Business College June 1918 and in his preparation for the ministry had stood among the first of his college classes. Then came the call of his country to arms and true to America he loved so well, volunteered and was admitted to the SATC at Marietta College, Marietta, Ohio where he was stricken by death and now lies sweetly sleeping clad in the uniform of his country and draped with the Star Spangled Banner, the greatest honor that can befall a soldier. He leaves a father, mother, brother and many relatives and friends to mourn their loss.
