Born on Dec. 11, 1941, he was a graduate of Miami East High School and attended Sinclair College in Dayton. For much of his life he was a musician and lived in Colorado, Arizona and Alaska before moving to Virginia to be near family. Jim was formerly married and had no children. He worked as a disc jockey briefly, and a framing apprentice while in Virginia. He moved to Piqua in 1990, and worked at American Trim LLC in Sidney for several years before he retired. Jim loved his guitar and his ham radio and both were his talents and focus for most of his adult life. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Hall Runkle and his mother, Beulah Adele Yinger Runkle. Three sisters and one brother survive, Joyce Fox of Piqua, Dr. Richard Runkle of Centreville, Va., Sharon O'Hara of Fairfax Station, Va. and Connie Fuller of Fredericksburg, Va., and by many nieces and nephews. The graveside funeral services will be held at noon Monday in Rosedale Cemetery, North State Route 235, near Rosewood with the Rev. Bonita Wood of the Tipp City United Methodist Church presiding. Jim will be buried next to his parents.
