Patricia A. Shockey, 86, of Urbana, passed away Sunday, March 31, 2013, in 
Springfield Regional Medical Center with her family by her side.

She was born September 22, 1926, in Dayton, Ohio, the daughter of John D. and 
Elizabeth (Donahue) North. Mrs. Shockey was a 1944 graduate of St. Mary High 
School. She retired from Grimes Aerospace after 25 years of service, followed 
by 10 years of service at Walmart. Mrs. Shockey was an avid bridge player. 

She was a member of the St. Mary Church, the Ladies Sodality, Grimes Quarter 
Century Club and the Moose Lodge in Urbana.

She is survived by her children, Loretta Giardina of Plain City, Marjorie 
(Chic) Stocksdale of Columbus, Teresa (Jim) Woolley of Spring, TX, John Shockey 
of Spring, TX, Jim Shockey of Urbana, Dan (Karleen) Shockey of Urbana and Bill 
Shockey of Urbana; her grandchildren, Charlie, Andy and Cynthia Stocksdale, 
J.R. Woolley, Mary Ellen Rhea, Elizabeth Robinson and T.J. Woolley, Charles 
Shockey Greer, Matt and Kathryn Shockey, Kristin West, Kevin and Megan Shockey 
and Tyler Shockey, 15 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Mrs. Joseph (Peggy) 
Kerns of Springfield and Mrs. Joseph (Helen) Welsh of Atlanta, GA; her in-laws, 
Mrs. Robert (Mary) McGraw of Lancaster and Mr. & Mrs. Thomas (Betty) Shockey of 
Urbana; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Shockey is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert C. 
Shockey, her daughter, Mary Ellen Shockey, her sister, Mary E. Feather, her 
brothers, Jack and William North, and her in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil M. 
(Veronica) Shockey, Howard Feather, Joseph Kerns, Joseph Welsh, Robert McGraw, 
Joe and Corrine Shockey and Rev. Father David Shockey.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, in the 
VERNON FUNERAL HOME, 235 Miami St., Urbana, Ohio. A Mass of Christian Burial 
will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 4, 2013, in St. Mary Church, Urbana, 
with Fr. Louis Asobi celebrant.

Burial will follow in Oak Dale Cemetery, Urbana. In lieu of flowers, memorial 
contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 3797 Summit Glen Dr., 
G100, Dayton, Ohio 45449, or to the Cancer Association of Champaign County, 
P.O. Box 38125, Urbana, Ohio 43078.
