The Urbana Daily Citizen abstract
Arvena (Richardson) Smith, age 92, formerly of Saint Paris passed away on 
Thursday, October 14, 2010 at 8:00 a.m. in the Mercy McAuley Center, Urbana. 
Arvena was born on December 2, 1917 in Rochester, NY, a daughter of the late 
Harry and Florence (Romans) Ross. Arvena was preceded in death by two 
husbands, Leo W. Richardson, Sr. on September 27, 1967 and James H. Smith in 
December 1992. 

She was also preceded in death by a son, Wilber J. Smith, two brothers, John 
and Joe Ross, Sr. a sister, Marie Whitmore, and two half brothers, Leo W. 
Richardson, Jr. and Raymond Richardson. 

Arvena worked for Atlas Underwear and Impo of Piqua. She was a former member 
of the VFW Post Ladies Auxiliary, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the 
Eagles, all of Piqua. 

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in 
the Atkins-Shively Funeral Home, 216 S. Springfield Street, Saint Paris with 
Chaplain Nancy Hardin of the Mercy McAuley Center presiding. Burial will 
follow in Upper Honey Creek Cemetery, S. Elm Tree Road, St. Paris.
