She was born July 16, 1928 in Springfield, Ohio to Byron & Jessie (Dunlap) Setty. She was a graduate of South High School and attended Bethel College. Jessie worked as a cook's helper for 20 years, first at North Hampton School and then at Northwestern Elementary School. Jessie was a member of Newson Missionary Church, where over the years she served as Primary Superintendent, Treasurer of the Women's Missionary Society, a Sunday School Teacher, Children's Church Director, and worked at many Vacation Bible Schools. Jessie was a member of the Northwestern Mothers' Club, and was a part of the Ladies' Auxiliary in Pike Township. Jessie had many hobbies that she enjoyed, including sewing, crocheting, craft making, and card making. She also loved her large collection of lambs. Jessie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and was a special friend to all who knew her. She was always concerned about the welfare of those dear to her. Jessie is survived by her loving husband, with whom she shared the joys and sorrows of life for over 62 years. In addition to her parents, Jessie was preceded in death by a son, Donald Steele; a grandson, Alan Michael Clagett; a sister and brother-in-law, Nellie and Dean Ruch; and a brother-in-law, James Syrus. Visitation will be held 4-8 PM Friday February 11, 2011 at the TROSTEL, CHAPMAN, DUNBAR & FRALEY FUNERAL HOME, New Carlisle, Ohio. Visitation will be 11-1 PM Saturday at the Newson Missionary Church with services at 1 PM in the church. Burial will be in Newson Cemetery.
