Steinberger, age 96, of Saint Paris, Ohio passed away on Sunday, November 4, 2007 in Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton. Bertha was born on August 6, 1911 in Mad River Township, Champaign County, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late C. Willard and Anna Belle (Zea) Steinberger. The last member of her immediate family, Bertha is survived by seven nieces and nephews: Robert W. and Ellen Steinberger of Des Moines, Iowa, Louanna Steinberger Calland of West Liberty, JoAnna Steinberger Bryan of Great Falls, VA, John and Shirley Steinberger, Jr. of Saint. Paris, Tom and JoAnn Steinberger of Springboro, Ohio, John and Linda Larmee, of Saint Paris, and William and Deborah Yandle of Springfield. Numerous great nieces, great nephews, great great nieces and great great nephews also survive her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters: Dolly Steinberger Fullerton, Susan Steinberger Mohr, Ruth Steinberger Yandle, Alice Steinberger, Mary Steinberger; and her brothers: John J. Steinberger, Peter G. Steinberger and James A. Steinberger. Bertha was a lifelong member of the Myrtle Tree Baptist Church, St. Paris joining in 1918. A 1929 graduate of Westville High School, Bertha also received an Associates Degree from Urbana Junior College and a Bachelors Degree from Wittenberg University. A retired teacher of 33 years, Bertha taught at Westville School and the Urbana City Schools. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 8, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in the Myrtle Tree Baptist Church, 7020 St. Rt. 36, St. Paris, Ohio with Reverend Mike Parr and Reverend Clifford Kissinger presiding. Burial will follow in Myrtle Tree Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 7, 2007 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Atkins-Shively Funeral Home, 216 S. Springfield Street, Saint Paris, Ohio. Contributions in memory of Bertha may be made to Myrtle Tree Baptist Church, 7020 W. Highway 36, Saint Paris, Ohio 43072.
