STRAYER, Robert E., Sr. 73, of Springfield, Ohio went to be with the Lord on 
November 19, 2004 joining his son Robert E. Jr., brothers Buddy, Paul and Bill 
along with his parents Floyd and Gladys (Kite) Strayer. He was born November 
11, 1931 in Urbana, Ohio. Bob was retired from Wright Patterson Air Force Base 
Civil Engineering Department and the 178th Tactical Fighter Group at 
Springfield Municipal Airport. Bob also had worked in maintenance at Mercy 
Hospital Springfield, then with Wackenhut Security Services in Dayton at WHIO-
TV and Huntington Bank. Bob was an Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict, 
an assistant scout master with the Boy Scout Troop 1, a member of the American 
Legion 787, WPAFB Rod and Gun Club, And Tri State Gun Collectors. Bob was a 
charter member of the Northridge United Methodist Church, but had attended the 
United Church of South Vienna, Rev. Scott Griswald, Pastor. Bob married Helen 
Louise Baker on February 2, 1953 in Dover, Delaware whom survives along with 
their children Connie (Ron) Shaffer, Roberta (Craig) Wilson, Floyd (Angie), 
Dennis (Pam) and daughter-in-law Kathy; eleven grandchildren, nine and a half 
great grandchildren; sister Dorothy (Dick) Dawson; sister-in-laws Mary and 
Mary Jane Strayer,; brother-in- law Homer (Bunny) Baker; mother-in-law Marilyn 
Baker; aunt Agnes; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and good friend-neighbor- 
adopted son Jerry Hamilton. Pall bearers will be Nick Strayer, Bruce Strayer, 
Dan Baker, Daniel Esquines, Scott Orr and Joe Drews. Honorary pall bearers 
will be Floyd Strayer, Dennis Strayer, Ron Shaffer, Sr., Ron Shaffer, Jr., 
Craig Wilson, Craig Allen Wilson, Andrew Wilson, Brandon Strayer, David 
Strayer. Visitation will be held on Tuesday in the Northridge United Methodist 
Church from 5 until 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday in the 
church beginning at 11 a.m. with Pastors Roger Fischer and Roland Wildman 
Northridge United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Oakdale 
Cemetery, Urbana
